Every owner is obligated to pay their dues or assessments. But if you do not, the association can charge you interest, most of the time late fees, and attorney’s fees. If you do not pay after they send you a notice, and it goes to the attorney for collection, you’ll be required to pay their attorney’s fees. If you still do not pay, they could put a lien on your property. A lien can be foreclosed in the same manner as a mortgage, and ultimately, if you do not pay, the property can be sold at a foreclosure sale.
